Moving from Milk to Meat: Catechesis for a Digital Generation
Tuesday, December 3, 2024 | 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Central
In the last 25 years, forty million people have left American churches. They and their children often still believe in God or have warm feelings toward Jesus and Scripture. But they've mostly been fed empty calories, if anything. How do we respond to an uncatechized generation of believers and half-believers, including those raised in the orbit of church life, and who increasingly live online and don't spend their time in books? Join us for a discussion with Brad East on his new book, Letters to a Future Saint, which is one attempt to respond to this challenge.
Intersection: Where Theology and Practice Meet is a series of focused, online conversations hosted by Randy Harris and Carson Reed. Drawing wisdom from special guests and inspiration from timely topics, we create space for collegial learning, reflection, and ministerial action.
Special Guest: BRAD EAST
Brad East is associate professor of theology at Abilene Christian University. He is the author of four books: The Doctrine of Scripture; The Church’s Book: Theology of Scripture in Ecclesial Context; The Church: A Guide to the People of God; and Letters to a Future Saint: Foundations of Faith for the Spiritually Hungry. He earned his Ph.D. from Yale University. Brad and his wife, Katelin, have four children; they are members at Highland Church of Christ, where he is one of the teachers in the Sojourners class.
