The Siburt Institute and ACU's Graduate School of Theology are both deeply invested in equipping churches for both the next generation of ministry and also for today. We are excited to come to San Antonio for this Bridge event. Our ACU faculty are dynamic speakers, committed to giving you high-level content in a relevant, relatable way. We are thankful for this opportunity to work with the people at Northside to partner in bringing up and further equipping leaders in local congregations.

Speakers

fIRST lAST

DR. MARK HAMILTON, Professor of Old Testament

After ministering several years in congregations in Connecticut and Massachusetts, Mark moved to Abilene Christian University in 2000. There he teaches courses in Biblical Hebrew and Old Testament. He has been a visiting professor at Pepperdine University, Lipscomb University, and universities in New Zealand, Ghana, Russia, Croatia, Israel, and South Korea. He has also lectured and preached in many parts of the United States, and several other countries. In addition to his work at Abilene Christian University, Mark served ten and a half years as an elder of the University Church of Christ in Abilene. He preaches and teaches in churches in many locales. Mark is the author of numerous publications and is currently working on several more, including commentaries on Genesis and 1-2 Samuel. Most importantly, he and his wife, Samjung, have two adult children they dearly love.

DR. MASON LEE, Assistant Professor of Practical Theology

Mason is the Director of Contextual Education and Associate Dean within the Graduate School of Theology, where he has served since 2020. As part of his role, Mason serves on the Siburt Institute Looking Team and works with congregations in interim ministry capacities. Mason, who has a Ph.D. in practical theology/homiletics from Princeton Theological Seminary, is passionate about helping preachers and other ministers flourish. When he isn’t writing, teaching, or thinking about ministry, Mason enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelci, their daughters, Addison and Marah, and their two dogs.

DR. AMY McLAUGHLIN-SHEASBY, Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies

Dr. Amy McLaughlin-Sheasby is a professor in the College of Biblical Studies at Abilene Christian University, where she specializes in practical theology, homiletics, and wisdom literature. Much of her academic research focuses on the impact of suffering and trauma on the way we speak about God. She is also the Director of Faculty Spiritual Formation at ACU—a role that entails the development of spiritual care for fellow faculty members. In addition to her love for Christian higher education, Amy has always been passionate about congregational ministry. She has worn many different hats in churches around the country, but it was during her time as the preaching minister for a small church in Abilene that she became most passionate about educating and equipping fellow ministers for varied contexts. Amy and her husband, Nathan, currently live in Abilene, Texas, with their two beloved dogs, Enzo and Miles. They are members of Highland Church of Christ, where they enjoy serving in the worship ministry together.

COST AND REGISTRATION

Tickets for our Bridge gatherings cost $60 each, or you can bring your spouse and get two tickets for $100.

Who Should Come?

The Bridge is designed to bring Graduate School of Theology faculty into contact with church leaders, providing content that is relevant for local contexts but will also allow them to go deeper in the study of the Bible, Christian theology, and practical ministry. As a result, this initiative is appropriate for a variety of individuals in the church, including elders, ministers of various kinds, deacons, Bible-class teachers, and ministry leaders, as well as any followers of Christ who long to grow deeper in their understanding of God’s mission for the world. We hope that you can join on us on that day, and that you’ll bring friends and colleagues with you from your church!
